Course Description
Our HLTAID011 Provide First Aid Course Centre in Sydney AU is a nationally recognized course for people who may need to provide first aid at work or in emergency or required situations.
At Safework Training Australia, we keep the training hands-on. You get the chance to practise the skills, use first aid equipment and work through different situations with the trainer. It is not just about sitting through theory and reading course material.
The course covers everything from bleeding and choking to asthma, anaphylaxis and situations where CPR or an AED may be needed.
HLTAID009 Provide CPR and HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support are included as part of the course.
Course Details
-
3 hours of online pre-study
3 hours of face-to-face practical training
The online study comes first and covers the theory you need for the course. You then attend the practical session, where you can put that knowledge into practice.
This is where you will practise the skills, work with the equipment and deal with different first aid situations.
-
There is more to first aid than CPR. HLTAID011 covers a range of situations that a first aider may come across.
Topics include:
CPR and AED use
Basic emergency life support
Checking the area before approaching someone
Caring for an unconscious person
Choking
Bleeding and wounds
Shock
Fractures and dislocations
Sprains and strains
Burns and scalds
Head, chest and spinal injuries
Asthma
Anaphylaxis
Fainting
Bites and stings
Using first aid equipment
Contacting emergency services
Giving information about an incident
First aid reporting and documentation
The practical sessions give you the opportunity to work through these situations rather than simply read about them.
-
The assessment includes both questions and practical tasks.
During the practical assessment, you may need to deal with a situation involving CPR, an AED, choking, bleeding, an unconscious person or an injury.
Your trainer assesses how you handle the situation and whether the required first aid skills are carried out correctly.
All assessment activities need to be completed successfully before the Statement of Attainment can be issued.
-
After successfully completing HLTAID011 Provide First Aid, you receive a Statement of Attainment for the unit.
The course also includes:
HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): Refreshed every 12 months.
HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support: Refreshed every 3 years.
-
Training a group of employees? HLTAID011 can be completed at your workplace or at a location arranged for your team.
The practical session includes the equipment needed for training. Staff can complete the course together and practise first aid skills during the session.
The first aid needs of a workplace can vary. The type of work, number of employees, workplace hazards and level of risk are some of the factors a business should consider when deciding on its first aid arrangements.
