Course Description
Our HLTAID009 CPR course is a nationally recognised unit for people who may need to provide CPR during a workplace or other emergency.
At Safework Training Australia, the training is practical and hands-on. You get to practise CPR, use an AED and work through emergency scenarios with the trainer.
The course covers recognising a cardiac emergency, calling for medical help, performing CPR and using an automated external defibrillator. Training also includes adult and infant CPR, rescue breathing and placing a casualty in the recovery position.
Safework Training Australia delivers the course through experienced emergency services professionals, including paramedics and firefighters.

Refresher: 90 minutes minimum
Blended: 90 minutes minimum
Face-to-face: 120 minutes minimum
Online with face-to-face assessment: 20 minutes face-to-face minimumThe format depends on the training option selected. Online or blended learners complete the required online study before attending the practical assessment.
The face-to-face component gives you time to practise the required skills using CPR manikins and other training equipment.

CPR involves more than simply learning chest compressions. HLTAID009 covers the steps involved in recognising and managing a cardiac emergency.

Checking for responsiveness and normal breathing
Calling for emergency assistance
CPR for adults

The practical sessions give you the opportunity to work through these situations rather than simply read about them.

The assessment includes both written questions and practical tasks.
During the practical assessment, you may need to perform CPR on an adult, use an AED, place a casualty in the recovery position and perform CPR on an infant.
The theory component consists of multiple-choice questions covering the knowledge required for HLTAID009.
All required assessment activities need to be completed successfully before the Statement of Attainment can be issued.

After successfully completing HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, you receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the unit.
The certificate has an industry-recommended renewal period of 12 months. Regular CPR training helps keep these practical skills current.
